- Ese Brume wins Silver medal at Serbia World Indoor Championship
Nigeria’s Ese Brume has once again proved her heroism at the ongoing World Indoor Championship in Serbia, The Informant247 Nigeria News reports.
Brume on Sunday won a Silver medal in Belgrade with a massive personal best leap of 6.85m in the long jump to win Nigeria’s only medal at the World Indoor Championships in Serbia.
The Olympian finished second behind Serbian Ivana Valuta who leaps a distance of 7.06m to win gold at the World Indoors Championship.
The feat is coming 14 years after Olusoji Fasuba last won gold in men’s 60m in 2008.
The Delta State-born ‘jumper’ has won a medal at every major championship she has competed in since she struck the gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
While she was reputed for winning Nigeria’s only medal at Doha in 2019, Ese also won Nigeria’s first athletics medal after 13 years at the Olympic Games last year, one of Nigeria’s two medals at the Tokyo Games in Japan
