Enzo Fernandez first word as a Chelsea player
The Argentina international was unveiled on Wednesday after undergoing medicals at the club.
He joined the Blues from Benfica for a British-record transfer fee of £107million on deadline day of the January transfer.
His contract will last until June 2031 at Stamford Bridge and is expected to be available for Chelsea’s home game against Fulham on Friday.
Speaking after joining the EPL giants, the 22-year-old midfielder said he is delighted to join the team.
“I am grateful to Chelsea and its ownership for doing everything they could to make me a part of this project. I’m happy and excited to join the Pride of London, to play in the best league in the world and to compete for the biggest trophies. I can’t wait to play in front of our fans and help my team-mates on and off the pitch.” He told Chelsea website
The best young player award winner at the last world cup in Qatar only joined Benfica from Argentine club River Plate in August, for a reported fee of around $10 million plus add-ons.
After moving to Benfica last summer,he has had 11 goal involvements in his 29 appearances this season
