EniObanke foundation treats over 400 Kwara residents on first day of free medical outreach

More than 400 residents of Kwara State received free medical consultations, tests, treatment and medications on Wednesday as the EniObanke Foundation for Humanity commenced a three-day medical outreach in Ilorin.

The first day of the outreach, held at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, attracted beneficiaries from different communities who sought medical attention and assistance with healthcare costs.

The initiative is aimed at providing free healthcare services to residents who may be unable to afford medical consultations, tests, and prescribed medications.

Speaking on the first day of the exercise, a staff member of the foundation, Sadiq, popularly known as Mr Jack, said the organisation was pleased with the turnout.

“So far, for the first day, which was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Emir’s Palace, we are grateful for the massive turnout. We were able to attend to over 400 people from across the state,” he said.
He, however, identified surgical cases as one of the challenges encountered during the exercise, noting that some beneficiaries required specialised interventions.

“There are cases of cataracts, glaucoma and tooth extraction which we did not have sufficient provision for ahead of the programme. However, I believe that by the next outreach, we will have everything in place,” he said.

A beneficiary from Faagba, Ilorin, Hawau Muhammad, said she brought her two-year-old daughter to the outreach after the child developed a high temperature and symptoms she suspected could be malaria.

She said financial constraints had prevented her from taking the child to the hospital before learning about the free medical programme.

“EniObanke Foundation was just God-sent to me because my daughter was having a high temperature and probably malaria. I couldn’t take her to the hospital because of financial constraints,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Mallam Isiaka Anafi, a native of Isale Aluko community, described the outreach as timely and prayed for the continued success of the foundation.
Similarly, Hajia Aishat Usman commended the foundation for the intervention but appealed for beneficiaries to receive all prescribed medications.

Also speaking, the Director of Nursing at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, Hajia Hafsat Akanbi, said many residents live with undiagnosed health conditions because they cannot consistently afford healthcare services.

“This kind of medical outreach is one of a kind, and it is really helpful to the community,” she said.

The outreach is expected to continue with the remaining activities scheduled at designated locations in Ilorin.
