Election: FG postpones population census to May

The Federal Government has postponed the 2023 Population and Housing Census earlier scheduled for March 29 to May 2023.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture announced this after the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday, saying the decision to reschedule was necessitated by last week’s decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reschedule the Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections to March 18.

He also said the Council approved N2.8 billion for the National Population Commission (NPC) to procure some software to be used for the conduct of the census.
