Eid-ul-Maolud celebration: FG declares Wednesday public holiday

In commemorating the Eid-ul-Maolid celebration, the federal government has declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023 (12th Rabeeu’l Awwal) as a public holiday.

The celebration  signifies the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

According to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, on behalf of Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Interior Minister, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the minister congratulated Muslims for witnessing this year’s occasion while admonishing them to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him ) exemplified.

The Minister also urged youths to embrace hard work and peaceful dispositions to fellow citizens irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity.
