Effective cooperation among health workers key to delivering quality care: Kwara finance commissioner

The Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, has disclosed that effective cooperation among healthcare professionals is key to delivering quality care.

In a Statement signed by Babatunde Toyin AbdulRasheed, Press Secretary, Ministry of Finance, The Commissioner for Finance Dr. Hauwa Nuru disclosed this during a seminar organized by the Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) for healthcare workers across the state.

In her address, Dr. Nuru praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his leadership and continuous support, particularly for healthcare workers in rural areas, noting that such support is essential for achieving significant improvements in healthcare service delivery.

She emphasized that the governor’s interventions have been instrumental in enhancing the well-being of healthcare workers and ultimately improving patient care.

Presenting her paper on the importance of teamwork in healthcare, Dr. Nuru highlighted the complex and demanding nature of the field, stressing that effective cooperation among healthcare professionals is key to delivering quality care.

She noted that teamwork is the cornerstone of efficient healthcare delivery, enabling better coordination, communication, and delegation of tasks within healthcare facilities.

Dr. Nuru also underscored the need for a collaborative environment where healthcare professionals can work together seamlessly, leading to improved patient satisfaction and better overall healthcare experiences. She further emphasized that fostering teamwork not only reduces the risk of medication errors but also enhances job satisfaction and reduces work-related stress among healthcare workers.

The Finance Commissioner expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Hospital Management Board for organizing the seminar, describing it as impactful and timely. She encouraged healthcare workers to continue embracing a culture of collaboration and teamwork, which she believes will lead to improved service delivery, reduced burnout, and a more supportive work environment.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of KW-HMB, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, stated that the seminar was designed to enhance capacity development and equip healthcare workers with the skills needed to improve service delivery. He commended Governor AbdulRazaq for consistently supporting the training and development of healthcare workers in the state.

Dr. Malik also addressed challenges such as poor customer service and conflicts with the public in hospitals, describing them as systemic issues that the board is committed to resolving through continuous training and attitudinal change programs.
