EFCC, Saraki and Logun: The names on Kwarans lips

It is not a fallacy to say the most pronounced names in Kwara State last week are Logun, Saraki and EFCC. The trio have come to stay with us, and with time they would be part of us – it depends on the outcome of the investigations.

It is no more a news that Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President of Nigeria and two term Kwara first citizen has been in tussle with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, he has always been their visitor and they have always take their time to welcome him whenever the call came knocking.

Before his latest predicament with the Commission, he has been earlier vindicated by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, who took him to the bathroom of integrity and gave him a clean wash off his allegations. It is not the end, it should not be the end as Kwarans — both home and abroad, believe their State Commonwealth were looted, stole and gutted by this man and his co-conspirators. The masses detested his dynasty and the rest is what we all seeing today in Kwara — emergence of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Maybe we should tagged the earlier ruling in his favour guile and politically motivated just to have him with the Government at the helms of affairs — the Executive or we should say the Commission was unable to established allegations leveled against him then.

Well they are back, the commission is back knocking on ABS so hard, from the seizure of his Lagos properties to the taking over of the one he allegedly built with Kwara funds when he was here as Governor.

What should interest Kwarans is part of the release from one of his Special Advisers who noted that the Ilorin property was built partly by the Kwara State Government pursuant to the Third schedule of the Governor and Deputy Governor (Payment of Pension) Law of 2010 — note that he used ‘Pursuant’ to serve our curiosities well. He made it known that Dr. Bukola Saraki funded the remaining cost of the building to his state and the project commenced until the last weeks of Saraki’s tenure.

It would be great if the search light is beam in the right direction and our commonwealth are not just lost and wasted. The search should not be surface alone and if found guilty should be prosecuted accordingly, — the prosecution process should not be ill-motivated or an act of witch-hunting political opponents. If our boy again, as always, win this unscathed, a new title should be bestowed on him. He should be confer ‘Òní Inú rere Kwara, Àrí owó Ìlú mọn kò jẹ of Ilorin,’ but till then let us give EFCC time and space to do their designated job.

On the lips of Kwarans is also the name of our beloved Chief of Staff, the one who rode to power with the people’s Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and also served as the Chairman Transition Committee, Alhaji Aminu A. Logun. The News of his invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was at first seen as misinformation and false news from the abode of his oppositions — and that of the government he is serving, but it is not long before the news gained Kwarans hearts. Too hard for Logun to debunk and Kwarans are so curious to know the facts behind the invitation, he dragged the debunk so slow that well-wishers took their times to write and fight for him been their brother in the political world.

In Kwara State of today, citizens are now politically grounded than before that they want to know everything at first hand, they see the communication fluidity as the only way to go — reason they are yearning for the signing of Freedom of Information to bill.

The debunk was long overdue but came at last on Tuesday, 2nd of December 2019, when Alhaji Aminu cleared the air and recounted his visit to EFCC office was just to contribute his needed help in hastening the investigation of erstwhile KW-IRS Chairman, Professor Muritala Awodun that has been alleged of looting our commonwealth.

Right or wrong, guilty or not guilty, our honourable CoS deserves time and space to defend himself and it will interest us that EFCC is not backing off if definitely he is found guilty.
