The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS) zone C, Office of the Public Relation Officer in conjunction with other students’ leaders in Kwara State celebrated Democracy day, ‘June 12’ in another dimension as the body awarded a personnel of Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), Akindele Opeyemi Taiwo as a diligent and most outstanding civil servant in Kwara state.
The memorable event which took place at Romiechs Junction, Offa Garage Area, Ilorin was graced by the Deputy Commandant of NSCDC Kwara Command; S.K Salahudeen, Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA; Y.K Bello, NANS (Kwara) JCC Chairman; Comr. Adebayo Saheed Olosasa and other patriotic Nigerian Students.
It was also gathered that the CEO of KWARTMA out of his magnanimity conferred on the awardee the rank of two stars.
Akindele Opeyemi Taiwo, a graduate of University of Ilorin (2010), performed his selfless service at three Junctions in Ilorin (Maraba, Flower garden and High court junctions).
He was very popular with his unique way of managing traffic. He came into limelight at highcourt junction in 2014 when the former Govenor of Kwara State, Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed spotted him. He was given a grant of #100,000 and also directed to start work as an official in Kwara State Road, Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA).
According to a source, his CV spent over two years in KWARTMA office without feedback, but finally got the work with the KWARTMA.
Akidele said; “my passion took me this far. Put your best in anywhere or anything good you find yourself doing, someday it will surely speak for you.”
