The European Union (EU) has expressed its dissatisfaction over the lynching of Nigerian citizen, Deborah Samuel in Sokoto State.

The life of the 200 level Shehu Shagari College of Education student was violently cut short by a mob, over blasphemy, last Thursday.

The international organization has charged the Nigerian authorities to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.

While reacting on Wednesday, the 27-member union said justice should be done.

“Still saddened by last week’s gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto.

“Everything must be done to ensure the murderers are not only swiftly brought to justice, but that justice is done. Reoccurrence must also be prevented,” a statement on Twitter reads.

However, the EU has encouraged the youths not to only get their voter’s card but also actively participate in the 2023 general elections.

The international body insists that the youth can only influence who governs them by actively participating in elections.

The Head of the EU delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Ambassador Samuela Isopi while making the call, said, “Now is the time for youths to influence the outcome of the 2023 elections for their benefits and their country at large.

“Today is the tomorrow our leaders have always spoken about, when we say that youths are the future of tomorrow”, Isopi said.
