Deadly Shooting Outside US Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Leaves Two Dead
Tragedy struck outside the United States Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as a shooting incident claimed the lives of two individuals—the assailant who initiated the gunfire and a Nepalese security guard.
The incident has been confirmed by officials from the United States and Saudi Arabia, who are currently conducting investigations to determine the motives behind the attack.
According to a spokesperson for the Mecca Region police, a person in a vehicle stopped near the American consulate building in Jeddah Governorate and emerged from the car brandishing a firearm. Security authorities swiftly responded to the situation, engaging in a confrontation with the assailant, which ultimately resulted in his demise.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), a state news outlet, reported the tragic loss of the security guard who served as part of the consulate’s private security team.
Fortunately, no US citizens were harmed during the gunfire, as confirmed by the US State Department.
The department stated, “The U.S. Embassy and Consulate remain in contact with Saudi authorities as they investigate the incident.”
It is worth noting that the US consulate in Jeddah, located in the bustling Red Sea port city with a population of over 4.7 million people, has been targeted by acts of violence in the past.
