Danladi pays tributes as ex-Kwara deputy speaker, Dele Shittu, is buried

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, on Sunday, paid glowing tributes to the late 2nd Kwara Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dele Shittu.

This is as the remains of the Kwara All Progressive Congress cheiftain were buried in Offa.

Shittu – a member of the first Kwara State House of Assembly representing Offa constituency from 1979-1983 and re-relected for a second term in 1983, when he emerged Deputy Speaker of the House – died on Saturday.

In a condolence message ealier released by his media aide, Sheriff Ibrahim, Speaker Danladi described Shittu – who was until his death the Chairman of the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo – as a “very senior colleague” whose wise counsel and guidance will be sorely missed.

The message reads in part, “As sad as we feel about his demise, we thank God for his well spent life of impact and dedication to the course of God and humanity.

“Hon. Dele Shittu is an elder whose humility and bridge building capability will be greatly missed. While praying for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the deceased, we also seek strength for the family to fill the great vacuum left by his demise.”

Meanwhile, eminent Kwarans were present as Shittu remains were buried in Offa.

Apart from Speaker Danladi, the Kwara APC Chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa Omolaja; Senator Lola Ashiru; and Senator Sadiq Umar also attended the burial.

Also at the burial were the majority leader of the Kwara Assembly, Hon Mogaji Olawoyin; Hon. Saheed Popoola; Hon. Ojo Olayiwola; Hon. Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf; and Hon. Halidu Danbaba.
