COVID-19: Owolabi shares over 2000 sanitizers in Kwara to mark birthday

Following the ongoing effect of the pandemic, Coronavirus codenamed COVID-19, the Lawmaker representing Share/Oke-Ode Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Rasaq Owolabi, on Saturday, marked his birthday on the streets, distributing hand sanitizers.

To the amazement of many, Owolabi, took to the streets of many communities in his constituency; Share, Babanlomo, Oke-Ode, to give out over 2000 sanitisers.

Speaking with the press after the exercise, Owolabi lamented how Coronavirus has killed thousands of people across the globe and with no panacea yet to halt the outbreak.

He urged people of his constituency to adhere strictly to the precautions given by the state government so as to prevent the pandemic.

According to him, hand shake, hugging, social gathering should be avoided pending the time the crisis is over.

“In the face of the ongoing pandemic ravaging the land, I empathize with Nigerians, especially Kwarans.

“And it is my sincere prayers that Almighty Allah who has guarded us this far in Kwara will continue to protect us and not allow us to witness it.

“We don’t only pray it doesn’t come to Kwara, but we pray Allah have mercy on us all so that this pandemic codenamed COVID-19 will soon become a thing of the past in Nigeria and across the globe.

“The number of people who have died as a result of the devastating pandemic is alarming. Just this morning, new cases were confirmed in Nigeria, Lagos state to be precised.

“Let clerics in Ilorin, both Muslims and Christians do their part by asking God for mercy, at this time, we can do nothing unless God help us”.

Reacting to the humanitarian gesture, a resident of Share, Abiola Adeyemi, appreciated Owolabi, urging both the well to do in Kwara and politicians to follow suit.

“The fight is not one person but for all. The rich and the politicians in the state should please join force to prevent the spread of the virus by doing what is humanly possible,” she said.

A resident of Babalomo who simply identified himself as Shola, also commended the lawmaker for taking a giant step towards preventing the spread of the virus in Kwara.

“Together we can address this manace, we still have a special grace because no case has been recorded in Kwara. Government should do more towards ensuring that those that comes into the ancient town through commercial transport, especially from Lagos doesn’t carry the virus.”
