COVID-19: Kwarans join state govt to beg individuals, corporate bodies for fund

…call out TUYIL, KAMWIRE, Saraki others

Several Kwarans have join the state government to beg for the support of wealthy individuals and cooperate body to support the government’s effort to curb the novel coronavirus in the state.

The Kwara State Government, on Saturday, called on corporate bodies and philanthropists to donate to the Technical Committee saying it needs all the help it can get to face down the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement by the committe spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye, reads in part, “Donations can be made to the committee through Kwara State COVID-19 Support Bank Account 1022751448 at UBA,” it stated, adding that corporate bodies or individuals wishing to assist the state may either pay into this account, donate essential materials for government to take care of the poor, or do their own private support to persons of their choice.”

Speaking with a Kwaran, Abdullahi Yusuf, he said, “I expect wealthy individuals like Saraki, Shagaya, Lai, Gbemi (Saraki) and others to have donated to the state. We don’t expect the government to win the fight alone. Even the federal government needs support. Let’s leave politics and party affliction for now.”

Another Kwara resident who gave his name only as Ibrahim said, “We have cooperate bodies in other states donating relief item and supporting their government, what is Tuyil (Pharmaceutical), Kamwire (metal industry) and others doing? Let them support. Even US Trump with the largest economy direct companies to support their government.”
