COVID-19: Kwara police bans gatherings of over 10 people
The Kwara State Police Command has banned all gathering of over 10 people in the state.
The command announced this in a statement sent to THE INFORMANT247 after cases of the disease rise to 36, with Oyo and Ekiti, states close to Kwara recording their first cases.
Before the new development, the state government had shut down all schools and instructed civil servants to work from home.
The statement read in part, “Henceforth, any gathering of more than 10, be it that of policemen or otherwise requires the written permission of the Commissioner of Police with effect from Monday 23/03/20.
“All suspects in cases of simple offence or misdemeanor are NOT to be detained but released on bail immediately. Detention should only be in the case of serious offences that are not normally bailable.
“The weekly briefing with DPOs within the metro will now be done online until further notice.
