COVID-19: Again, 25 convicted for defying lockdown order in Kwara
NO fewer than twenty five (25) violators — of the Kwara State Government’s lockdown order — have been convicted by a Magistrate Court, sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Recall that the State Government had imposed a stay-at-home order to prevent the community transmission of novel coronavirus.
About twenty of the violators were arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Police Force.
The Informant247 correspondent reports that the violators were arrested at different places within ilorin metropolis and sentenced accordingly before no fewer than four magistrates.
Some bagged community service punishment which include sweeping streets in Ilorin metropolis, some were to pay ten thousand naira fine while some who are travallers were asked to go back to where they were coming from before been arrested in Ilorin.
Violators of the Kwara State government order are; Samuel Ayeni, Emmanuel Adekunle, Mariam Abdulwasiu, Suliat Bolakale, Blessing Emmanuel.
Others are; Abdulsalam Abubakar, Muhammed Abdulrahman, Imam Adam, Muhammed Saliu, Alhassan Yunus, Oladele Ogiri, Hamzat Garba, Yunus Ambali, Murtala Issa, Christophe Ojukwu, among several others.
The violators were prosecuted by magistrates Bio Saliu, A. Y Abdullahi, Muhammed Ndakele and others.
