Court sentences artisan to 2 months imprisonment for stealing pipes from construction site
An artisan, Iornyar Andonengen, 25, has been sentenced to two months imprisonment, by an Abuja court, over theft of two plumbing pipes from a construction site.
The convict, who lives in Gusape, Abuja, has pleaded guilty to theft and criminal trespass.
Malam Ishaq Hassan, who’s the judge, has given the convict the option to pay the sum of N10,000 fine and warned him to stay away from criminal act.
Hassan also directed the convict to pay the sum of N75,000 as compensation to the complainant through the court.
Olarewaju Osho who’s the prosecutor has earlier informed the court that Darius Itodo, a security guard connected to a construction site in Guzape, Abuja, the country’s capital, brought the case to the awareness of the kae enforcement agency at Asokoro Police Station on Sept. 29.
He revealed that the convict illegally took possession of two plumbing pipes, which are worth N29,000 each from the construction site.
He further said that the convict was arrested in the act and the stolen property (stolen pipes) were recovered from him.
He said that the offence is in contravention of the provisions of sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
