A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of three persons who kidnapped and killed an 82-year-old man, Michael Obasuyi, at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The Magistrate, Bankole Okuwasanmi, ordered that the suspects, Sunday Obasuyi (42), son of the deceased; Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51), be remanded pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Informant247 gathered the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, earlier told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave.
The prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8m to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist, while noting that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
