Court remands 42-yr-old man for stealing items worth N9m in Lagos
Ige Akingbade, 42, was on Wednesday, arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja over alleged theft of a Tug Bolt machine and N9 million worth jewelries.
The defendant is to face a four-count charge of stealing.
The defendant has also pleaded not guilty.
Insp Funmi Akinleye, the Prosecutor, has informed the court that the defendant, with others carried out the offence in January at Ayetoro area of Epe, Lagos.
The Prosecutor revealed that the defendant has stolen one N4 million worth Tug Bolt machine, and N5 million worth gold jewelries, which belong to one late Chief Kamorudeen Akingbade.
She also revealed that the offence is punishable under and in contravention of Section 287(5)(f) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
She further said that the defendant, with others, threatened to take the life of one Mrs Olabisi Akingbade, thereby carrying out an offence which is punishable under Section 56(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
“That you, Ige Akingbade and others still at large, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
“You disallowed one Olabisi Akingbade access to her father’s house, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 168(1)(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015,” the prosecutor said.
Mrs O. O. Fajana, the Magistrate, has granted the defendant the bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned by the magistrate till November 9 for mention.
