Court remands 3 suspected human parts dealers in Ilorin
An Ilorin magistrate court, on Friday, ordered the remand of two herberlists Jamiu Agbomola, Abiodun Lekan and a bricklayer, Wasiu Kareem who were allegedly selling human parts for ritual purposes in Correctional Service Centre.
They were charged for Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Trespass Unlawful Removal of Human Parts and Possession of Human Parts as Juju Contrary to Sections 97 and 342 of the Penal Code and Section 7 and 2 Punishable under Section 12 (a) and (b) of the Kwara State Prohibition of dealing in human parts law No. 4…..
Police First Information Report revealed that one Shaad AbdulGaniyu reported at Ganmo police station on 2nd November, 2020 that he saw Lekan (the second defendant) leaving a locked house with a bag.
When the bag was searched, charm and bones suspected to be human bone were reportedly found in the bag.
Police report disclosed that Lekan confessed that the human bones found in his custody belongs to his master, Agbomola (first defendant) of Ago-Oja in Asa Local Government Area of the state.
Agbomola, upon his arrest confessed to have known Lekan saying he’s his errand boy.
The trio, during the police investigation, confessed that they’ve been in the selling of human parts business since 2018.
They reportedly confessed further that “human parts are usually sold to those who needed it for as much as N5000… Body parts are sold out different people for ritual purposes”.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Adewumi Johnson, prayed the court to remand the defendants saying the offences allegedly committed by the defendants were capital offences in nature.
He added that police police investigation is still ongoing over the matter.
Magistrate Abimbola Abioye, who presided over the matter said his court lacks jurisdiction to entertain the matter saying he can only see cognisance of it.
The magistrate in his ruling, ordered that the defendants be remanded in the federal correctional Service centre while the case was adjourned 10th December, 2020.
Meanwhile, the defendants counsel, Barrister Toyin Onanolapo while speaking with this medium after the proceedings, vowed to pursue justice over the case saying the charges against his clients are just mere allegations that has no substance.
