An Abuja Federal High Court, has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to keep in detention the former bandits’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, for 60 more days.
Report has it that Justice Nkeonye Maha ruled on the ex-parte motion moved by Ahmed Magaji, the counsel for the DSS.
The DSS, via the motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1617/2022 dated and filed Sept. 12, had implored the court to assist it to conclude its investigation on the former negotiator.
The Informant247 recalls that Mamu had being in charge of negotiation with the bandits for the freedom of the Abuja-Kaduna train passengers who were kidnaped in March.
The Informant247 reported that on Sept. 6, the former negotiator was apprehended by foreign security agents in Cairo, Egypt.
Mamu was detained by the authority of Egypt before being repatriated back to Nigeria on the order of Nigerian DSS.
The DSS had, on Sunday, sent message of warning to Nigerians over making comments on the arrest of Mamu.
The spokesperson of DSS, Peter Afunaya had implored Nigerians not to bother the agency but they should rather allow it to focus on the investigations, which it said the outcomes had been “mindboggling.”
Meanwhile, the outspoken Islamic cleric, Sheik Gumi, to whom Mamu is an ally, had condemned the arrest of his aide.
The controversial cleric, had called on secret security outfit to drag Mamu to court if it had any evidence against him rather than detaining him for more than twenty four hours (which is unconstitutional).
