Guinness Book of Records on Monday, acknowledged the effort of Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong aka Hilda Baci who has been cooking for close to 100 hours now, saying it will need to review associated evidence before officially confirming the record.
Hilda Baci, who made a historic feat on her cooking on Monday, said that she has extended her cooking to 100 hours to break the Guinness World Record for longest cooking hours.
Announcing her marathon cooking challenge extension from 96 to 100 hrs in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, Baci’s best friend @ama_reginald wrote: ”’Let’s go. I asked my baby to make it a round figure, so we are doing 100hrs.”
As of 4:00 pm on Monday, Baci had cooked for 96 hours to surpass the previous record set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef, in 2019.
Lata Tondon cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds to break the previous title.
Baci, who started her cooking marathon challenge four days ago at Amore Gardens, will keep cooking to extend the record until the 100th hour.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user identified as Alexander had inquired why the Guinness Book of Records was yet to acknowledge Baci’s feat.
The user had tweeted “Why is Guinness World Records not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-thon? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).”
Responding, it wrote, “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
