Coalition: Shehu Sani calls for northern support of south west in 2027 for complete 8-Year tenure
Senator Shehu Sani, a former representative of Kaduna Central Zone in the 8th Senate, has called on the people of Northern Nigeria to rally behind President Bola Tinubu as the nation prepares for the 2027 elections. In a recent interview with journalists in Kaduna, Sani expressed appreciation for the strides made under the current administration.
“For those of us from this part (North) of the country, we appreciate the progress made so far by this present government. Those who had the opportunity to do better and failed should apologize for the wrong they have done to the people of the North,” Sani stated.
He urged Northern citizens not to be influenced by divisive narratives, warning, “The masses of the North should not allow themselves to be incited against a government that is doing far better than the previous one.” He emphasized the historical cooperation between the Northwest and Southwest, asserting, “It is only logical that we allow the South to complete their eight years in power for the peace, unity, and survival of our democracy.”
Reflecting on the need for unity, Sani addressed Nigeria’s past challenges, noting, “We ought to learn from our experiences. I call on the people to caution those who had the chance to uplift the North but failed and are now voicing grievances based on personal interests.”
Despite ongoing security concerns in the region, Sani recognized some progress, saying, “While there are still threats from banditry, comparing where we are coming from, I think things are better.” He noted specific improvements in southern Kaduna, pointing to advancements in security and infrastructure.
Sani, however, called for continued efforts from the government to address the North’s challenges and encouraged open dialogue with critics. “More needs to be done, and we must listen to voices of dissent to foster a greater Nigeria,” he concluded.
