Classic night as England, Germany share spoils in UEFA Nations league game

A dramatic Monday night of football action at the Shrine of football, Wembley Stadium saw the England National team and Germany team playing out a 3-3 draw in the UEFA Nations league group stage game final.

Little could many imagined that the game which had it first half ended goalless draw would eventually produced a six goal thriller.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoreline for the visitors in the 52nd via spot kick and would have their lead doubled through Kai Havertz just 15 minutes later before Luke Shaw reduced the tally for the three lions in the 71st minutes.

While Mason Mount would also come off to level up for the host in the 75th minutes, the English team would have VAR to thank as they were handed a penalty which was easily converted by Skipper Harry Kane in the 83rd minutes to give them a lead which would three minutes later be erased by Kai Havertz who tapped in a rebound to give the German team their third goal of the game.

Before now, England have confirmed their relegation to the second tier of the league after losing to Italy last Friday and will have to push harder to come back to the top flight.

The final spot is also off hook for the German team who had also lost their last game 1-0 to Hungary and would have to settle for the third spot on the table.

While there a lot of positives and negatives in the game, the game apart from its inconsequential result is expected to serve both team well as they prepare for the World Cup.
