CHAN: Super Eagles Team B return to Abuja after loss to Ghana
The Coaches and players of the Super Eagles Team B on Monday evening returned back to Abuja after their 2 -0 loss to Ghana in the first leg of their CHAN qualifiers game.
Ghana’s Black Galaxies shot into the driving seat in their 7th African Nations Championship final qualifying fixture against Nigeria after a 2-0 win over Super Eagles B at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.
After an evenly-balanced first period, during which goalkeeper Adeyinka Adewale quickly redeemed himself after dropping the ball with a Ghanaian forward lurking,
The spot kick from Daniel Barnieh in the 50th minutes and a last gasp Seidu Suraj’s shot in the 86th minutes were all the Black Galaxies needed to defeat the Nigerian team that had earlier held the home team to a goalless draw
in the first half.
The result leaves the Super Eagles B with some work to do ahead of the return leg, as both teams square off again at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday evening.
Coach Salisu Yusuf and his boys will need to secure a three goals advantage to upturn the win of the Ghanaians if they are to participate in the CHAN tournament billed for Algeria next year.
The Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament is reserved for Players that are playing professional football leagues within their countries and not abroad based players.
