CAF Confederation Cup: Plateau United outshines Al Akhdar in Abuja
Plateau United on Wednesday lived up defeated Al Akhdar of Libya 4-1 in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup additional play off round match.
Like Rivers United who spanked their opponents, El Nasr Benghazi of Libya 5-0 in Portharcourt earlier in the day, Plateau United were also the better side in the match played at the MKO Stadium in Abuja.
In a game wholly dominated by Coach Ilechukwu boys, their goal onslaught efforts off paid earlier with an opening goal coming from Mustapha Yuga in the 27th minutes.
Ifeanyi Emmanuel added the second goal just before halftime and handed the host a well-deserved 2-0 lead going into the break.
Albert Hilary thought he has netted the third goal in the 53rd minutes but the assistant referee flagged him offside. He would later scored an acrobatic goal in the 75th minute to make it 3-0 for the hosts.
The away side reduced the deficit in the 85th minute before Hilary completed his brace in the 90th minute and secured a 4-1 win for the Nigeria side.Al Akhdar will host Plateau United next week in a reverse fixture
