Businessman appears in court for allegedly beating ”baby mama”
A businessman, Awal Abdullahi, 22 appeared before an Abuja Court, for allegedly inflicting grievous pain on his ”baby mama”.
Abdullahi who’s residing in Kasuwan-dere Gwagwalada Abuja was charged by the police with causing grievous hurt.
Malam Abdullahi Tanko, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the complainant, Mosiat Garra residing at old Kutunku Gwagwalad, FCT, brought the awareness of the matter to the police station on November 3.
Tanko revealed that the complainant approached the defendant who’s the father of her child to request the school fees of the child.
He narrated that the complainant met a lady inside the room of the defendant and asked that the lady excuse her to have conversation with the defendant.
He explained that the defendant Instead started raining abuses and insults on her saying that “God will Punish her”, adding that before she could give any response, he started assaulting her.
Tanko revealed that the complainant sustained severe injury on her right eye and was hospitalized at Alheri clinic where she’s receiving medical attention.
The prosecutor also said that the offence was in contravention of the provisions of Section 341 of the Penal Code.
When the matter was read to the defendant, he however, pleaded not guilty.
Malam Abdulkarim Abdullahi who’s presiding over the matter granted the defendant the sum of N100,000 bail in the sum of N100,000 Plus one surety, whom must be living within the jurisdiction of the court.
Abdullahi also said that the surety must make provision for means of identification and the address must be subjected to verification.
He has adjourned the matter until November 28 for hearing.
