Building collapse: Wike visits site, promises to pay victims’ medical bills
Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, promised that his administration will foot the medical bills of the Garki building collapse victims.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that in the late hours of Wednesday, a heavy downpour caused a collapsed building of a two-story shopping plaza in the Garki area of Abuja
Wike, accompanied by Olusade Adesola, FCTA permanent secretary, described the incident as unfortunate, more so with the death of two persons.
Wike, after that, instructed Adesola to make necessary arrangements to pay the medical bills of the 35 rescued victims.
“It is quite unfortunate that we woke up this morning to hear this disturbing news,” he said.
“I am grateful to all rescue agencies, especially NEMA. Unfortunately, two people are dead.
“I will speak to the permanent secretary to make sure we pay the hospital bills of those rescued, and that should be done immediately.”
