Buhari promises to provide Burundi with fuel, energy

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria was ready to support Republic of Burundi in many necessary ways.

The Nigerian leader has said that Nigeria will be supporting Burundi in the spirit of African brotherhood and solidarity.

Buhari made this revelation, Tuesday at State House, Abuja, the nation’s capital when receiving the Special Envoy of President Evariste Ndayishimiye, who has come to deliver a message.

The Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning of Burundi, Mr Audace Niyonzima said his principal was sending goodwill for the 2023 to the people of Nigeria and President Buhari.

He has also wished the country well in the forthcoming general elections to come up February and March, 2023.

“We pray that the polls would be peaceful and successful, so that Nigeria would maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability,” the Special Envoy said.

As the leader of Burundi seeks assistance of the Nigerian government in the area of energy provision, and fuel, President Buhari said he feels the pain of Burundi as the country suffer shortage of energy.

He, said he would direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to look into the request of Burundi.

Buhari added that his major concerns now are the 2023 polls and his retirement as he has completed his constitutional 8 years in office.
