Breaking: Saliu Mustapha resigns from APC, says party no longer aligns with his principles

Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Saliu Mustapha, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

Mustapha announced his resignation in a statement, saying the decision followed recent developments within the party in the state.

The senator said he arrived at the decision after weeks of consultations and engagements with stakeholders, supporters, constituents across Kwara Central and other well-meaning Kwarans.

According to him, his decision was guided by his belief that politics should be centred on people, principles and purpose.

He said where a political platform no longer sufficiently aligns with those convictions and the aspirations of the people being represented, it becomes necessary to chart a new political course.

“Where the path of a political platform no longer sufficiently aligns with these convictions and the aspirations of the people one represents, the honourable thing to do is to chart a new course,” he said.

Mustapha expressed appreciation to the APC leadership, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the relationships and experiences he had gained during his time in the party.

He also assured his constituents, supporters, political associates and stakeholders that his departure from the APC would not affect his commitment to serving the people.

He said his political platform might change, but his principles, purpose and commitment to the people would remain unchanged.

The senator, who is also known as Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, pledged to remain committed to the interests of the people of Kwara Central, Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
