The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) leaders have convened at the Presidential Villa for a crucial meeting with a Federal Government delegation, aiming to avert an imminent strike by organized labor.
As of 6:33 pm, the meeting has yet to commence, with the Federal Government delegation reportedly holding internal discussions before engaging with the labor leadership.
This meeting marks the second gathering within the last 24 hours and represents a final attempt by the Federal Government to prevent the planned strike set for tomorrow.
Organized labor had announced an indefinite strike beginning Tuesday, protesting the alleged failure of the Federal Government to provide worker palliatives following the removal of fuel subsidies.
After yesterday’s meeting, the Federal Government expressed optimism about the possibility of organized labor suspending its planned indefinite strike.
