Breaking: Gov AbdulRazaq lifts Ilorin curfew

Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has lifted the curfew imposed in Ilorin metropolis.

The Governor had October 23 ordered a 24-hour curfew in the state capital following wanton looting and destruction of properties in part of the state capital.

AbdulRazaq however reviewed the curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on October 25.

“The curfew in Ilorin metropolis is hereby lifted. This is effective from tomorrow, November 12,” a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye on Wednesday’s evening read.

“Kwarans may however see increased joint patrols by security agencies within the metropolis and across the state. It is to strengthen the gains of the past weeks and keep criminal elements at bay.

“Citizens are to go about their lawful business without any fear. The government sincerely commends citizens and all critical stakeholders, especially the security agencies, for their support for the measures taken to strengthen security in the wake of some recent developments.”
