Breaking: Buhari names Kwara-born Prof Gambari new Chief of Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday appointed Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari as his new Chief of Staff following the demise of Mallam Abba Kyari.

Prof. Gambari is a Nigerian scholar and a diplomat having served a Minister for external affairs between 1984 and 1985.

He is born on November 24, 1944, in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

Meanwhile, reacting to the appointment, the state minister for transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki in a statement she personally signed congratulated the new Cheif of Staff.

The statement obtained by THE INFORMANT247 reads, “I recieved the news of your appointment as the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Undoubtedly, your appointment to this exalted position is a clear testimony of the confidence and respect President Muhammad Buhari have in your ability to discharge the very important responsibilities of the office.

“For decades you have distinguished yourself in service to our nation and the international community/humanity. Your historic appointment is indeed a source of joy to me and well-meaning Nigrrians.

“I am particularly happy that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration continues to prioritize meritocracy and people oriented projects; I am confident that your appointment will contribute immensely to the administration’s next level agenda.

“I wish to most heartily congratulate you on this well deserved appointment and I pray to Almighty Allah to give you the courage, foresight and good health to discharge them is responsibility. May Allah guide and protect you. Aamin.”
