An executive bill seeking to repeal the law granting payment of monthly pension to former governors and deputy governors has scaled first reading at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
The bill was introduced to the state assembly on Wednesday, November 18.
The motion for the bill to be read for the first time was moved by Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin and seconded by Hon. Abdullah Halidu Danbaba.
After the bill was read, Yakubu-Salihu Danladi, the House Speaker, directed that the clean copies of the bill be distributed to all the lawmakers and also referred to the House Committee on Rules and Business to schedule it for second reading.
The Speaker, while presenting it last week Wednesday, said the bill was tailored toward realising the cardinal objective of the state government on prudent management of resources.
