Be on alert, Buhari planning to impose president on us – Dino Melaye tells Nigerians

The former parliamentarian, Senator Dino Melaye has leveled an allegation against President Muhammadu Buhari. He said the president want to impose his successor on the Nigerian people.

Dino via a video on his social media handle, said the democratic nature of the country will make imposition of president difficult for Buhari.

The Informant247 had reported that Dino, has lost his political ambition to secure Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s Kogi West Senatorial ticket.

He made this revelation while reacting to Buhari’s comment telling the governors elected on the platform of the APC to help him choose the person that will succeed him in 2023.

The Informant247 had also reported that President Buhari, met with the APC governors on Tuesday, and persuaded them to let him choose his successor as they did in their various states.

Dino, however in the video, accused the President for his use of the word ‘successor’ and not party flag bearer, saying that the president is planning to impose the person that will succeed him.

He said, “Yesterday the president made a statement that is unconstitutional and showed some inhumane tendencies. The president said the APC governors should support him to choose his successor. The president used the word successor and not flagbearer or candidate of the APC.

“That statement has some negative effects and the negative effect is that Buhari wants to impose a president on Nigerians.

“We are in a democracy and so we will not allow imposition, we will not allow the president to handle this country as if we are in a monarchial or hereditary system of government.

“It is abominable and undemocratic for the president to be talking about a successor in an election that has not been conducted. I am calling on Nigerians to be at alert because the battle to salvage this country from economic scavengers is a battle of no retreat, no surrender”.
