Bandits kill police officer in Abia
Some gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) have reportedly killed a police officer.
The incident occurred around 12:30pm on Ohanku Road, Iheorji junction in Aba.
It was gathered that 2 of the gunmen lost their lives in a gun battle with operatives of the police from the Ndiegoro Police Station in Aba.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna.
Ogbonna said some police officers who were on patrol around Iheorji were attacked by the members of the ESN/IPOB.
“During a gun duel, one of the Policemen paid the supreme price while two of the gunmen were neutralized.
“As they shot the policeman, they also collected his Police AK-47 riffle”, Ogbonna revealed.
