Bandits kidnap 4 villagers, demand new naira notes as ransom in Zamfara
Four villagers in Kolo community, Zamfara State were kidnapped by bandits operating in the State.
It was gathered that the victims of kidnap involved a woman, a man and 2 children suspected to be orphans.
One Musa Ibrahim, a resident of the community, revealed that the bandits had earlier demanded the sum of N10m as ransom before they will release the kidnapped victims, but later accepted to pay N5 million.
“As we were putting heads together to see how we could raise the five million naira through community effort, the terrorists sent a message on Tuesday that they would not collect old Naira notes,” he lamented.
He added that the bandits declared that their victims will be in kidnappers’ den until the end of the month of December, 2022, when the redesigned currency would be in available.
All efforts to reach out to the spokesperson of the police in the State SP Mohammed Shehu were not successful as he could not answer his calls.
