Atiku’s ADC campaign council: Abdulfatah Ahmed named senior Adviser, Amuda-Kannike gets top admin role

Former Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, and former House of Representatives member, Abubakar Amuda-Kannike, have been appointed to key positions in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

Ahmed was appointed Senior Campaign Adviser, while Amuda-Kannike was named Head of General Services under the Administration Directorate of the campaign council.

The appointments place the two prominent Kwara politicians within the national campaign structure backing the presidential bid of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Ahmed served as Governor of Kwara State from 2011 to 2019. Before becoming governor, he served as Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development and later as Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development.

His public service experience covers economic management, budget formulation, public administration and executive governance at the state level.

Amuda-Kannike, on his part, brings experience from both the executive and legislative arms of government.

He previously served as Special Assistant on Agriculture and later as Commissioner for Water Resources, Sports and Youth Development, and Works and Transport in Kwara State.

He represented the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019.

As Head of General Services under the Administration Directorate, Amuda-Kannike will serve within the campaign’s administrative structure as the council coordinates its activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The appointments form part of the broader national campaign structure unveiled by the ADC, with political leaders, professionals, administrators and technocrats assigned responsibilities across different directorates.

The council is structured to coordinate campaign activities across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

For Kwara State, the appointments bring two former public officials with executive and legislative experience into strategic positions within Atiku’s campaign organisation.

The campaign leadership includes Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman, Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman and Senator Austin Akobundu as Director-General/Campaign Manager, alongside other senior advisers and directors overseeing various areas of the campaign.

The appointments come as the ADC and its presidential campaign organisation begin preparations for the 2027 election and expand their political and organisational structures across the country.
