The Nigerian Government has directed Vice-Chancellors in universities to re-open institutions and resume academic activities.
Mr. Sam Onazi, the Director, Finance and Accounts of National Universities Commission (NUC), made this revelation on behalf of Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of the commission, in a signed letter in Abuja on Monday.
The content of the letter was addressed to all VCs, Pro-Chancellors, and chairmen of governing councils of universities, and was a call to re-open the federal universities.
“Ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures; restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses,” the letter reads.
The Informant247 reported that the National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off the ongoing industrial strike.
The Informant247 also reported that Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said that the union that will soon have a meeting to discuss on the directive of the National Industrial Court that the staff union should call off the industrial strike.
