The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has proceeded on a two-week warning strike.
The Informant247 Nigeria News gathered that the two-week warning strike had started on Monday, March 14, 2022, after which seriousness on the part of the State government would be re-evaluated.
According to the report, the decision to embark on the strike was taken during the ASUP congress, in order to press home their demands from the Osun State Government.
The union disclosed that the list of demands put forward to the state government includes the implementation of a full salary table for tertiary institutions, 65 years retirement age, promotion exercises for 2019, 2020, and 2021 fiscal years.
It added that members of the Union also demanded the payment of 29 months’ half salary arrears and contributory pension scheme monthly deduction of May and June 2019, March, April, and May 2020.
The union stated that it had previously notified the Osun State Government of a 7-day and 21-day strike ultimatum respectively, stressing that there is no concrete effort on the part of the government to resolve the issues raised.
