Arsenal’s title hopes sunk by late equalizer in draw with Crystal Palace
Arsenal’s ambitions for the Premier League title suffered a significant blow on Wednesday as they were held to a dramatic 2–2 draw by Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium, leaving Liverpool just one point away from securing the championship.
The Gunners began the match strongly, taking the lead in the 3rd minute when Jakub Kiwior scored from a Martin Ødegaard assist. However, Crystal Palace responded in the 27th minute when Eberechi Eze found the back of the net, leveling the score with assistance from Adam Wharton.
Just before the halftime break, Leandro Trossard put Arsenal back in front, scoring in the 42nd minute after being set up by Jurrien Timber. Despite controlling much of the game, Arsenal couldn’t maintain their advantage, as Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized for Palace in the 83rd minute, ensuring a share of the points.
With this draw, Arsenal remains on 67 points from 34 matches, while Liverpool, sitting at the top of the table with 79 points from 33 games, requires just one more point to seal the title. Manchester City, also on 34 matches played, stands third with 61 points.
