ARIMA AWARDS: Burna Boy wins best Album of the year as Adekunle, others shines

The Best Act in Africa award was given to Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy at the eighth annual All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, in Dakar, Senegal.

The All Africa Music Awards (commonly known as AFRIMA) are a yearly ceremony. The International Committee AFRIMA, in partnership with the African Union (AU), created the awards ceremony to honor and promote musical creations, talents, and originality on the African continent while promoting its rich cultural legacy. In 2014, it presented its pioneer Awards ceremony.

Burna Boy also triumphed against Didi B of Cote d’Ivoire and Kabza De Small of South Africa to win the Best Album of the Year award.

Wizkid won Best Act in West Africa, Davido won Best Male Act in African Inspirational Music, and Adekunle Gold won Best Act Group in African Contemporary Music and Best Act, Duo or Group in African Pop for his collaboration with Davido on the song “High.”

Manamba Kanye, a Guinean singer, was named Best Female Act in West Africa.
