A senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Senator Ishaku Abbo has, Monday during the ministerial screening on the floor of the senate glowingly, spoken about the generosity of former Osun state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbeshola when the ministerial nominee was taking turn for screening.
The controversial senator recounted how Mr. Aregbesola donated his monthly salary to support his political ambition when he was contesting for chairmanship position in his local government in 2012.
Against this backdrop, he pleaded with the house to allow Mr. Aregbesola take a bow and leave.
“In 2012, I wanted to contest as a local government chairman in my state. I went to seek Aregbesola’s support in Lagos. He fixed an appointment with me in Osun State.
On the appointment date, I went to Osun Governor’s Office. Without any delay, Governor Aregbesola ushered me in. He patiently listened to my needs and offered me a mouthwatering assistance. He gave me the whole of his salary to finance my electoral campaigns.
Sir, that small boy you assisted on that day is now a senator today, who will confirm your appointment as a minister. I have nothing better to say than to thank you for your kind assistance, sir. You’re a detribalised Nigerian, sir.”
