APC members join PDP in Kwara

Barely few days after the one year inauguration ceremony of Governor AbduRahman AbdulRahman at the helms of Kwara State governance, over Ten Thousand disgruntled members of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the various five Local Government Areas of Kwara North Senatorial District on Thursday, 4th June, defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
While receiving the defectors at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, the Kwara State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Kola Shittu expressed his pleasure over what he termed “an unprecedented defection in the history of Kwara State.”
He therefore, maintained that the party is big enough to house any decampee, giving assurance that no decampee would receive discriminatory treatment.
In his final submission, The PDP chair enjoined party’s members to religiously throw their weight behind the party in the forthcoming Local Government elections.
Voicing his resentment, Alhaji Manzuma Abdulmalik Kawudogo who led the Kwara North APC Legacy Group said all the spirited efforts and struggles in the build-up towards the 2019 general elections to ensure the enthronement of the current administration in the state were waved to the drain without enjoying dividends of democracy, stressing that those who contributed little or nothing to the success of the government are reaping where they never sowed.
Honourable Manzuma, however noted that the above mentioned factors and many others are the driving forces behind their defection.
Registering his indignation, a former Kwara State APC deputy youth leader, Hon. Shafihi Mohammed berated Governor AbdulRahman’s insensitivity to the cravings and grievances of the people of Kwara North, alleging that the Governor assumes the status of “Alpha and Omega” by pushing party’s stalwarts who unrelentingly fought for his emergence as governor to the sideline.
He further fumed that it is on this basis they had reached a resolution to decamp from the ruling party as the governor, with his frosty leadership style is leading the party to disarray.
