Anybody caught cutting tree without govt approval in Jigawa to bag two years jail term: Official
Jigawa State Government has approved two years jail term on anybody arrested cutting tree without Government permission.
Magaji Yusuf, the council chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Council disclosed this on Thursday at a town hall meeting held at Birnin Kudu town.
He said the council had approved the law as part of its efforts to reduce the rampant cutting of trees to prevent environmental degradation.
Yusuf explained that under the law, anybody arrested cutting a tree without the authorities concerned would face the wrath of the law.
“The defaulters will face two years jail term with fine,” he stated.
He, therefore, stated that the council had established a strong committee to work with the Forest Guard and arrest any body cutting trees without government permission.
