The Africa Magic viewers choice award AMVCA has stirred controversy with most viewers expressing displeasure on how some deserving people of some category of award did not get it.
The Amvca 9th edition was held on Saturday 20th at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
So some of the awardees that got people talking are.
Social media users complained over Osas emerging winner as best actress in drama, for her role in the movie Man of God. They noted that there are befitting actress in that category to clinch that award, actresses like Bimbo Ademoye in Anikulapo, Ini Edo who played twins in shanty town.
However, amidst this controversy here and there against Osas winning, she just ignored all and shared some video and pictures of the event on her Instagram on Monday extending her gratitude by captioning it “Grateful, humbled and blessed”.
Also, Adanma Luke, accuses Amvca of ignoring south-east and honoured the Yoruba cartels.
The actress said she is speaking on behave of some frustrated south-east actors who feel only Yoruba actors get invited and honoured.
In her statement she said “if Africa magic Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa can have their category then why not Africa magic epic, this AM epic gave birth to lots of superstar we know today”.
Adanma rounded it with, “well what do I know let me face my business”.
However, Her comment has also pulled lot of reactions on social media. Also, some of her colleagues have played down her accusations, like Nkechi Blessing, Ade glory, while some are on the same page with her.
The exclusion of Kunle Remi, the lead actor in Anikulapo, from the ninth edition of Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, however, has sparked outrage among his fans and netizens.
Remi was omitted from the list of nominees for the prestigious prizes despite his performance in Kunle Afolayan’s epic drama, Anikulapo, which received 16 nominations.
Remi also reacted that he remains unaffected by the snub, because his role as ‘Saro’ was accepted as a challenge rather than an award.
Meanwhile, aside from the controversy surrounding his nomination snub, Remi has been making headlines for his AMVCA outfit, and his fans have praised his choice of clothing, truly remi has insight into fashion.
Diiaderm also says she only wasted her time to attend the event.
Diiaderm is the CEO of top cosmetic brand, Adeola Chizoba Adeyemi, she reacted to the controversy trailing the awardees.
Diardem took to her Instagram that until the AMVCA starts rewarding people according to their performance, no one will agree with the winners.
In her words, she wrote: “Until the AMVCA starts rewarding people according to their outstanding performances and not fan votings, no one will ever agree with the winners”, she said.
