Following his release from prison, Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti has sent his appreciation to family and friends who stood behind him during his ordeal.

The Informant247 had reported that the Grammy-Award nominee was yesterday, released from police detention.

It could be recalled that the Lagos State Police Command last week Monday, detained Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti over an alleged assault on a police officer over the weekend.

Benjamin Hundenyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in a statement via his official Twitter handle.

The PPRO said, “Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative. He has been placed under arrest.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore on Tuesday via his Twitter handle, announced that the music star has set free.

He wrote, “Just to announce that @RealSeunKuti has been released from @PoliceNG detention in Lagos. Hasta la victoria siempre!”

However, Kuti, taking to his Instastory shortly after his release, appreciated all those who stood by him during his ordeal.

He wrote, “I want to say a profound thanks to everyone who showed me all this love. All my friends that showed up! Thanks most especially to my beautiful wife @chefyeidekuti”.
