AIU files appeal against Tobi Amusan at CAS over Doping allegation

The Athletics Integrity Unit ( AIU) has filed an appeal against Nigerian and World women’s 100-meter hurdle champion Tobi Amusan at the Court of Arbitration For Sports ( CAS).

AIU had provisionally suspended Amusan before the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary but she was later cleared to compete in the event.

While she went on to record a low performance at Hungary, she roared back to life on Sunday when she won gold at the Diamond League that was held in Eugene,Oregon with 12.33 sec

The AIU on Monday confirmed that the case has been charged to CAS for further clarification and they will have to wait for the court verdict

” The AIU filed an appeal last Friday (15 September 2023) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Disciplinary Tribunal’s decision, dated 17 August 2023, that Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures.

The AIU will make no further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal”, the statement read
