After Governor AbdulRazaq’s inauguration, what next?

It’s a new dispensation in Kwara! the Governor of Kwara state He Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was sworn in today for a 2nd term, let me take you through some of the outlined pledge Kwarans should expect for the next 4years.

In his inaugural speech, The Governor stated that he will consolidate the gains of first term and lay new foundations for sustained socioeconomic development and institutional growth, deepen the reforms and investments in the critical sectors like education, healthcare delivery, civil service welfare, social safety programmes, general infrastructural upgrade and renewals.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq also emphasized that adequate attention to completing ongoing infrastructure will top his second term governance to do list, projects like the Ilorin International Conference Centre, the Revenue House, Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, Sugar Film Factory, Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses of the Kwara State University, industrial park, Shea Butter factory in Kaiama. He also stressed that, the General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover and the garment factory will be flagged off soon with huge economic benefits.

Now here is a good news to civil servants, it’s your time to own your own homes. According to 6th item on the Governor’s inaugural speech, Kwara state will partner private and federal agencies to provide affordable housing package to develop new satellite towns which will help civil servants and other citizens to own their own homes.

The Governors reiterated the need to be more intentional in efforts to improve healthy living through a cleaner environment. Kwara state use to be one of the cleanest state, but the narration has changed for the past few years,. Interestingly, He announced that the usual 3months maternal leave for female civil servants will be extended to 6 months, (optional for mother who wish to practice exclusive breastfeeding, to strengthen our multifarious initiatives for a better future.

And on education, the speech only mentioned, basic primary education and healthcare delivery that has been recognised nationwide, Kwara State has again been nominated for a bigger international project in basic education funded by the Japan International Development Agency.
Kwara SUBEB and the FCT have been chosen for international Mathematics training in Japan in July.

The Governor also expressed willingness to set up a bureau of integrated rural development to be domiciled in the Government House which will liaise with communities to come up with their needs in order of priorities.
