3 persons lost their lives on Saturday while nine other persons have sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The accident affected a Toyota sienna car and a Nissan car at Fidiwo bridge on Lagos-Ibadan highway.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Ogun State, Mr Ahmed Umar confirmed the development to journalists in Abeokuta, the capital of the state on Sunday.
Umar said the road accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
He said the accident was triggered by over speeding driver of the Nissan car.
He said that the tyre of the Nissan car, having LSR 377 BL as registration mark burst while the car was on a high speed, adding that the over speeding made the driver lose control and caused a collision with the Sienna car having ABJ 24 XV as registration number.
The FRSC boss explained that 14 people were affected by the auto crash, among them were 9 men, 4 women and and a male child.
Umar added that 3 persons lost their lives while 9 persons were injured in the road accident.
The Sector Commander said that those who sustained injuries have been hospitalized to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical treatment and the deceased to the State Hospital mortuary, Isara.
Umar also advised drivers to always conduct inspection on their vehicle before embarking on journey.
He warned drivers to desist from overspeeding and should not violate traffic rules and regulations.
