Abuja Imposition; Belgore on another goose chase

All Progressives Congress, APC, has been cautioned against imposition of candidates in the state for next year’s general polls.

Comrade Fatai Issa in a chat with journalists in Ilorin at the State Party’s Secretariat, said there are speculations in some quarters that certain forces within the APC had perfected plots to sponsor an aspirant running on the platform of the party against the interest of other aspirants.

According to him, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola and the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi had perfected plans to impose a Lagos state based lawyer and one time gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Dele Belgore (SAN) to be the candidate of the party in the state during the gubernatorial primary.

Issa however warned that any attempt to bring a candidate who has lost ground in the state and who is currently facing corruption allegations would affect the chance of the party to take over power from the opposition party in the state.

He alleged that Mr. Dele Belgore is a prostitute politician that has dented his image in the state when he was involved anti party activities and corrupt cases, saying that he is not a sellable candidate.

Issa therefore urged all members of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Party stalwarts and all the aspirants to kick against imposition of candidates and allow members to determine who takes the ticket of the party in the general polls.

Belgore who hails from Kwara Central Senatorial district, was on June 13, 2018 arranged alongside a former Minister of National Planning, Professor Abubakar Suleiman, before Justice Aikawa of the Lagos Federal High Court over allegation of money laundering to the tune of #500 million by the Economy and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC had in its submission to the court alleged that Belgore and the Former Minister conspired between themselves to commit the offences on March 27, 2015.
